The Alize Big Band
is a martinican orchestra who combine
jazz with caraibeens rhythms.
Jazz on the “ball-music”
of the Caribbean Islands.
Alizé Big Band comes from this third America: the Archipelago of the Caribbean islands. A group of twenty or so musicians from Martinique brought up by the sounds of popular tunes of this arc of America, plays a repertoire around jazz and ball- music: biguine, Afro-Cuban, Latin-jazz, compas, reggae, and funk.
Along this island trip, Alizé Big Band plays compositions around arrangements which are the expression of this territory, creating a “geo-music”. This Big Band also welcomes other influences such as fragments of tunes and sounds from the other two Americas (North and South).
With its three sections (rhythms, brass, and woodwind) it develops a musical swing, a real invitation for listening and dancing.
Bearing on the standards of popular tunes from the Caribbean islands and also jazz, Alizé Big Band is the expression of a group who wants to convey to the audience the taste for improvised music, full of colors and sounds, ready to make you move.
